Battle of the Books is starting this year at Briggs. Students are starting to form teams and check out books from this season’s exciting title list. Battles won’t start for a couple of months yet as students begin to read through the books, but before we know it we will be facing regional competition where the battles become even more competitive and fun!
The entire school program takes place during lunch, so OBOB does not take time away from before- or after-school sports or activities, except to provide reading incentives during those “down” times. The only exception to this is in March and April when Briggs will send a team to the Regional, and hopefully, State Competition.
Be sure to ask your student if they are on a team, and which books they are reading…maybe even consider reading the books with them! They cover the main reading genres and are quite good! The list of this year’s middle level titles is below; All books can be checked out from our library so no need to purchase.
Absolutely Truly, by Heather Vogel Frederick
Avenging the Owl, by Melissa Hart
The Body in the Woods, by April Henry
