Welcome, Principal Williams!

As we all dive into our summer plans, we invite our Blue Jay family to join us in welcoming Marilyn Williams to the helm as our new Centennial principal! Mrs. Williams, a Springfield resident and veteran educator of more than 20 years, has been assistant principal at Springfield High for the last 5 years. She is looking forward to getting back to her roots in elementary education and helping continue Centennial’s long-standing success story.

Mrs. Williams gratefully accepts the baton from Amy Halley, who was a wonderful leader through our transition last year. We so appreciate the positive energy that Mrs. Halley poured into the school and wish her the best in her future endeavors.

Please watch for opportunities later this summer to meet Mrs. Williams! She enjoys reading, gardening and spending time with her family and two dogs, and she can’t wait to meet all of our amazing kiddos and families!

First-Graders Attend Gift of Literacy Celebration

Thursday, May 2, is the day when our first-graders join students from across the district to travel to LCC for the annual Gift of Literacy celebration. Springfield Rotary members work in conjunction with the district to provide each student with a hard-cover book of their choosing during this special day. Once on campus, the students are greeted by special characters, are read a story by a community member, and get treated to a special lunch before returning to school. It’s a super fun day, intended to help foster a love of reading in our kiddos. Be sure to ask them about their day!
