Gateways High School is happy to announce our students of the month for October. Every month GHS teachers nominate students whose accomplishments deserve public recognition. Two different organizations have honored our students this month: Springfield Times and Register Guard.
October nominees are: Shahalee Davis and Mackenzie Castro.
Shahalee was nominated by the Gateways High School Staff. She is being honored by the Register Guard. The staff share this about Shahalee:
Shahalee Davis is an articulate, intelligent student that has a passion for learning that makes her a student every teacher at Gateways loves and appreciates. She is kind, responsible, and helpful to other students, as well as teachers. Despite life’s challenges, this is a young woman who is destined to shine and succeed in life!
Mackenzie was nominated by our Night School staff Linda Mooney and Kate Sather. She is being honored by the Springfield Times. Here is what they say about Mackenzie:
MacKenzie Castro has only recently arrived in Springfield, moving here from Portland in June. She is working diligently to complete her credits for her diploma. Her high school years had many challenges including some serious health issues. It was those health issues that caused her attendance problems in Portland. She is back on track now and working steadily toward completing her requirements for graduation. She is a pleasure to have in class. She is a serious and steady worker, who will be successful in college and in her chosen career of nursing.
Thank you to Springfield Times and Register Guard for supporting and helping us celebrate our outstanding students this month! Congratulations to Shahlee Davis and Mackenzie Castro.
