Gateways High School is happy to announce our students of the month for December. Every month GHS teachers nominate students whose accomplishments deserve public recognition. Three different organizations have honored our students this month: Register Guard, Springfield Times, and The Elks Club.
Our December Nominees are: Tawna Wakeland, Kelsey Glenn, Kaarina Monroe
Tawna was nominated by the Gateways High Night School Staff. She is being honored by the Register Guard. The staff had this to share about Tawna:
Tawna has been a dedicated and studious student at Night School. She has lived in Springfield all her school life, coming to Gateways and then Night School after many challenges. An extremely good-natured student, with a delightful sense of humor, Tawna is a pleasure to have in class. She is now working diligently on her GED, hoping to graduate in June. She wants to be a good example for her baby son and hopes to go on to beauty school after graduation. With a clear direction and dedication, there’s little doubt Tawna will indeed be successful in all her pursuits.
Kelsey was nominated by the Gateways High School Staff. She is being honored by the Springfield Times. The staff had this to share about Kelsey:
Kelsey Glenn is an outstanding student at Gateways High School who prides herself on completing all assignments and tasks at the highest level she possibly can. She has an extremely impressive work ethic and is motivated to succeed in all areas of her life. While Kelsey originally began to attend GHS because of struggles attending and passing classes at her past schools, she is doing well now and plans to take classes and earn a degree that will allow her to become an OBGYN someday.
Kaarina was nominated by the Gateways High School Staff. She is being honored by the Springfield Times. The staff had this to share about Kaarina:
Kaarina is a bright and positive addition to all of her Gateways High School classes. She began her education at GHS struggling to meet graduation requirements and now hopes to graduate on time, if not early. She is a pleasant, motivated student who is quick to offer assistance to others. Kaarina has taken on leadership roles during her time at GHS and is thankful for all of the wonderful opportunities that have been afforded to her. Upon graduation, she plans on attending beauty school and then will seek a business degree. It is a distinct pleasure to see this student receiving a reward for all of her hard work and effort.
